Thai government says Thaksin supporters must not include migrants
    Zimbabwe Star
    Tuesday 9th March, 2010

Thailand has warned it will imprison migrant workers who attend anti-government rallies scheduled for this weekend in Bangkok.

If they are found among crowds protesting on behalf if former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, they will be liable to a five year jail term.

Thailand's Ministry of Labour has formulated the penalties, not only for migrant workers but also for employers who can be fined up to 100,000 baht for each migrant worker found to be involved in weekend protests.

Apart from jail and fines, migrants will also have their work permits revoked.

Thaksin's supporters are expected to hold a huge rally to protest against a Supreme Court decision two weeks ago that called for the confiscation of most of the tycoon's fortune.
